2:00 - 3:30 pm
Paths of Pioneer Christian Scientists is a new book from Longyear Museum Press that profiles four pioneering workers of the first order: Emma and Abigail Dyer Thompson, Janette Weller, and Annie M. Knott. Each one came to this new religion in the 1880s in urgent need of healing. The healings that resulted proved to be new beginnings, as each of these people dedicated her life to helping and healing others.
Longyear staff members Christopher Tyner and Stephen Howard will share some of the fascinating discoveries that came to light while they were researching and writing about the achievements and life stories of these four early workers. Of special interest is what they learned through their analysis of the communications between Mary Baker Eddy and each woman – a correspondence that opens a window to Mrs. Eddy’s leadership and guidance in situations similar to challenges that could be encountered today.
Refreshments will be served after the program.
Paths of Pioneer Christian Scientists is available from the Museum Store and online. The price of the book is $24.
