Mary Baker Eddy Historic House
Chestnut Hill & Lynn, Massachusetts

Longyear recently added Mrs. Eddy's former homes in Lynn, Massachusetts, and Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, to its collection. Both will undergo major restoration in the coming years and will not be open to the public on a regular basis in 2007.

Lynn, Massachusetts

In the Lynn home (1875 - 1882), Mrs. Eddy finished writing the first edition of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and founded the Massachusetts Metaphysical College.

While living in Chesnut Hill (1908 - 1910), Mrs. Eddy founded The Christian Science Monitor, made the final revisions to Science and Health and the Church Manual, and authorized the first translation of Science and Health (to German).

Directions: Chestnut Hill - 400 Beacon Street, Chestnut Hill, MA
From Route 128/95 take the Route 9 East exit (#20A) toward Brookline and Boston. Continue along Route 9 for 3.5 miles, passing the General Cinema and Shaw's\Star Market on the left. Move into the left-hand turn lane as you pass the cinema and Star Market. At the traffic lights, turn left onto Hammond Street; there will be a CVS drugstore on the left corner. Continue on Hammond Street, turn left on to Beacon Street at the first traffic light. 400 Beacon is on the left side, less than a mile from the intersection

Directions: Lynn - 12 Broad Street, Lynn, MA
Take Route 1A North from Boston to Lynn. After entering Lynn, 1A becomes Broad Street. The house is on the right.
