Restoration
of the exterior of the North Groton Historic House was finished
in fall 2002. Under the direction of Museum staff and special
consultants, clapboards and trim were replaced with historically
accurate material and finished with an opaque stain appropriate
to the period. In addition, masonry was repaired, the roof replaced
with new
cedar
shingles and the side porch rebuilt. Investigation during the
process revealed an original window that had been tucked away
-- still wearing its original
paint color.
