Daycroft
Library
Interlibrary Loan Program
The
Daycroft Library offers a rich collection of materials of interest
to the casual browser as well as the
in-depth researcher. It includes some 600 titles intended to help
visitors gain a better understanding of Mrs. Eddy, her work and
the times in which she lived.
Among the library's more unusual holdings are those written or
compiled by early workers in Christian Science. These pieces,
including scrapbooks of photographs and newspaper clippings from
the late 19th and early 20th centuries, are unique to Longyear.
The scrapbooks
have been reproduced photographically to protect the fragile originals.
The titles in the Daycroft Library cover a range of topics. There
are biographies of Mary Baker Eddy and copies of her published
writings, histories of New England and the communities in which
Mrs. Eddy lived, Bible translations, works on the history of Christianity,
biographies of religious reformers, and studies of 19th-century
clothing and lifestyles as well as science and technology. There
is a selection of children's books along with periodicals on early
American life and homes, New England museums and the history of
the state of New Hampshire and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
The
Daycroft Library is named for The
Daycroft School Foundation, Inc. in appreciation for
their generous support of the library.
The library is open Sunday 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday - Saturday
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Closed Tuesdays & holidays)
