Explore Mary Baker Eddy's New England This Fall

February 20, 2013

From September 26 - 29, 2013, travelers on Longyear’s annual Fall Tour will be guided through historic houses and other places of significance as they explore Mary Baker Eddy’s life journey and discover important sites in the history of the Christian Science movement. We hope you will join us for this four-day program.

During the trip, Fall Tour participants are invited to study Retrospection and Introspection, Mrs. Eddy's account of her own history, written when she was living in Concord, New Hampshire. Museum staff will present programs that provide important context for the many sites being visited, including the eight Mary Baker Eddy Historic Houses in the Longyear collection.

In New Hampshire travelers will visit three Mary Baker Eddy Historic Houses, the site of Mrs. Eddy's birthplace in Bow, and the site of her home at Pleasant View, in Concord. They will also see historic sites in Tilton, where Mrs. Eddy lived as a teenager and young mother, and will take a guided tour of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Concord, -- a church in which Mrs. Eddy took a keen interest.

Beach Fall TourAfter spending two days in New Hampshire, the motor coach will head south to Massachusetts, where participants will tour five more historic houses; visit Red Rock in Lynn; tour The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, and attend a Sunday morning service there. This segment of the trip includes a visit to Mrs. Eddy’s former house in Lynn where visitors will see the completed interior restoration. (The interior restoration will be completed in June.)

A recent Fall Tour participant commented, “This was a most memorable/significant event in my life-study as a Christian Scientist!”
