The first such service at The Mother Church included the reading of Psalm 145, the Lesson-Sermon, the singing of hymns, and testimonies for a period of about twenty-five minutes. The Berlin church held its first Thanksgiving Day service in English; then, a year later, two Thanksgiving services were held: one in English, followed by a second one in German, which included a brief explanation of this holiday's uniquely American origin.
