Reflections of 2009 Fall Tour Participants: "This 4-day trip had a profound effect on me."

Image Gallery, November: Travelers on this year's annual Longyear Fall Tour reveal, in their own words, insights gained from visiting Longyear's eight Mary Baker Eddy Historic Houses and other sites on the trail of Mrs. Eddy's life journey. A picture story and comments recapture some highlights of the trip.

In September, thirty visitors from all over the United States attended Longyear Museum's Fall Tour of its eight historic houses and other places of significance in the life of Mary Baker Eddy.

Starting at the Museum in Chestnut Hill, the tour bus hit the road for two days in New Hampshire, Mrs. Eddy's native state, where she spent her early years, and to which she returned to live for nearly twenty years as she worked to establish The Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston. Then the group headed back to visit the houses and sites in Massachusetts, where Mrs. Eddy was living when she discovered Christian Science, wrote Science and Health, gave public talks on Christian Science, taught hundreds of students, and later established The Christian Science Monitor.

The travelers' own words in this picture-story show how moved they were by seeing the places that represent stages in Mrs. Eddy's history. A member of the entourage said, "So many things really touched, inspired me at each stop. Mrs. Eddy's devotion, fierce focus, humility, courage, recognition and acceptance of her mission, her total love of and trust in God - all so reinforced on this trip."

After a guided tour of the Original Edifice of The Mother Church in Boston and Mrs. Eddy's last home at Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, one participant said, "Both the Original Edifice and Chestnut Hill revealed so much about Mrs. Eddy's true identity, and that comforts and inspires me."

Another member of the group summed it up simply, "I am so grateful I went on this trip!"
