The eight Mary Baker Eddy Historic Houses in the Longyear Museum collection trace Mrs. Eddy’s footsteps as Discoverer, Founder, and Leader of Christian Science. This spring, summer, and fall, Longyear staff will again provide free tours of these historic landmarks from May 1 through October 31. The public — adults and children alike — is warmly invited to visit these sites in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
These houses offer a glimpse of everyday life during the 19th and 20th centuries, and illuminate the history of one of the most noted women in America. As they stand in the very rooms where she lived and worked, visitors learn about Mrs. Eddy’s remarkable life history.
Each house in the Longyear collection is interpreted to mark the different stages of her life, from the struggles of her earlier years in New Hampshire to the years of accomplishment represented by her home in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
Over the years, Longyear has welcomed school field trip groups from throughout New England, campers and counselors-in-training from summer camps, and individuals and families from throughout the United States and around the globe.
Please visit us online to learn more about these houses, view photos, and confirm the 2010 tour hours. To schedule a tour, or for more information, please call 800.277.8943, ext. 100.
Note: The Mary Baker Eddy Historic House in Lynn, Massachusetts, is closed in 2010 due to a major exterior restoration project.
