The Mary Baker Eddy Historic House in Amesbury, Massachusetts, was a stop for visitors from throughout New England during “Amesbury Days” festivities on Saturday, June 26. This historic house, where Mary Baker Eddy was a guest of Sarah Bagley in 1868 and 1870, was open for free guided tours.
Amesbury Days 2010 began on Wednesday, June 23, with a block party and ended with a fireworks finale at Woodsom Farm on Sunday, July 4. Festivities during the 12-day celebration included historic site tours, a strawberry festival, concerts, canoe races, cook-offs, a carnival, beach parties, sidewalk sales, and more.
The celebration began in 1899 as a one-day festival for employees of the town’s mills, and today it is a multi-day celebration. Longyear participates in this festival as a member of Amesbury Treasures, a group of sixteen historic sites that cover four centuries of the town’s rich history.
