A Message from the Chairman of the Longyear Board of Trustees

Dear Friends,

The Trustees of Longyear and I are so grateful to all of the Museum’s friends who stepped forward this year to help us publish Longyear’s new book, Paths of Pioneer Christian Scientists, and begin the exterior restoration of the Mary Baker Eddy Historic House in Lynn. Three types of gifts were among the contributions that made a difference at Longyear in 2010.

General support helped fund Museum operations. We combined numerous $25, $50, $75, $100, $500, and $1,000 gifts to turn on lights at our historic houses, maintain our exhibits, pay our staff, and care for the Longyear collection.
Donations to our collection are gifts for the ages. After talking with our Curatorial Department, some individuals donated photographs, artifacts, and books to fill specific gaps in our historical collection.
In recognition of Longyear’s commitment to sharing Mrs. Eddy’s history with young students of Christian Science, Longyear annually receives donations in support of educational programs for youth. Thanks to one Longyear member’s generous contribution, every Principia College graduating senior will receive a gift copy of Paths of Pioneer Christian Scientists.

As you can see, contributions to the Museum support a variety of programs, and all of them advance Longyear’s work. We are so grateful for each and every gift!
