WILLIAM B. JOHNSON, C.S.D.
Around 1882, William B. Johnson was healed through Christian Science
treatment of disabilities resulting from injuries sustained during
the U. S. Civil War. Two years later he had Christian Science
class instruction with Mary Baker Eddy, and joined her early church.
In 1887 he was elected Clerk of the church, becoming a member
of its Board of Directors in 1889. Mr. Johnson proved himself
a trusted worker, and when the new church organization was completed
in 1892, he was appointed Clerk and a member of the Board of Directors,
positions he held until 1909. He was also a member of the first
Bible Lesson Committee in 1890, the Finance Committee, the committee
formed to compile a Christian Science Hymnal, and provided active
support during the building of the Original Edifice of The Mother
Church.
