FRANCES THURBER SEAL, C.S.B.
In 1896, through reading Mary Baker Eddy's book, No and Yes, Frances Thurber Seal was healed of an internal disorder and impaired vision. Soon after her healing, she had Primary class instruction in Christian Science in New York from Laura Lathrop, one of Mrs. Eddy's students. In 1897 Mrs. Seal went to Germany, and, until 1906, labored courageously and devotedly doing healing work and introducing thousands to Christian Science there. During this time, in 1898, under the newly organized Christian Science Board of Education, Mrs. Seal attended a Normal class. With her teaching degree, she returned to Germany, where she taught a Christian Science class in Dresden before settling in Berlin. As a result of her work, two branches of the Church of Christ, Scientist were established in Dresden and Berlin. Mary Beecher Longyear, the founder of Longyear Museum, was an ardent supporter of Mrs. Seal's efforts in Germany.
