E. BLANCHE WARD, C.S.B.
A native of Great Britain, E. Blanche Ward first heard of Christian Science while living in New York in 1889. After having Primary class instruction in Christian Science, she returned to the United Kingdom in 1891 and held informal talks on Christian Science in her home in Belfast. After a five-month visit to Boston and further Christian Science instruction, she returned to England and settled in Bedford in 1893, where she became a Christian Science practitioner. In 1894, she moved to London where she held private Christian Science services in her home. At Mary Baker Eddy's recommendation, public services began in London in 1896, with Mrs. Ward serving as First Reader. In 1898 she visited Mrs. Eddy in Boston, and in 1899, after attending the first class taught under the Christian Science Board of Education, Mrs. Ward returned to London to continue her work of Christian Science teaching and healing.
