PLANNED
GIFTS
Many donors have found planned giving
to be a meaningful way to support Longyear. Charitable bequests,
charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts may
be funded with cash, stock, real estate or other assets.
The
financial benefits from these gifts include the provision of an
ongoing income for the balance of the donor's and/or beneficiary's
lifetime, the possible bypass of capital gains taxes and a charitable
income tax deduction for having made the gift.
Charitable
Bequest
One way of establishing a planned gift to benefit Longyear is
by making a provision in one's will or living trust.
Charitable
Gift Annuity
The Charitable Gift Annuity is a simple agreement between a donor
and the Museum. The donor agrees to make a gift of cash or stock,
and in return Longyear agrees to pay the donor a fixed amount
of income each year for the balance of the lifetime of the designated
beneficiary.
Charitable
Remainder Trusts
The most flexible planned giving program is the Charitable Remainder
Trust, which can be tailored to meet a wide variety of estate
planning objectives.
If you would like more information on planned giving please contact the Director of Development, John Mitchell at
1-800-277-8943 ext. 230, or contact him via
