Longyear plans first-ever virtual celebration

This year, as a thank you for supporting the work of preserving and sharing the homes that once sheltered Mary Baker Eddy, Longyear Museum is planning an exclusive online celebration for everyone who contributes to the 2020 Mary Baker Eddy Historic House Appeal.

The festivities will take place on Friday and Saturday, July 24 and 25, and will feature a full line-up of both live events (on Zoom, a popular videoconferencing platform) and on-demand pre-recorded offerings. Some of the options in the works include informal “parlor chats,” a rare opportunity to visit with site managers in several of these historic houses from the comfort of your home; an update and Q&A with the preservation specialist overseeing restoration of the Amesbury house; talks on wallpaper discoveries and the process of reproducing historic patterns; and a closer look at artifacts that offer insights into Mrs. Eddy’s life and work. It’s shaping up to be a lively and informative two days!

Anyone who makes a gift of any size to help support these important landmarks will receive a full schedule of events, along with links to each of the offerings.
