[Video] Go, Write It in a Book

In the 1870s, history was being written in a succession of boardinghouses in Lynn, Massachusetts. In March of 1875, Mary B. Glover, as Mary Baker Eddy was known at the time, purchased a home of her own at 8 Broad Street in Lynn. Later that year, on October 30, she self-published her ground-breaking book, Science and Health. During the three years preceding its publication, she had withdrawn from classroom teaching to devote herself to the laborious process of putting pen to paper as she wrote her textbook on spiritual healing, all while moving from room to rented room as she faced opposition to the ideas she was articulating. This 16-minute video tells this dramatic chapter in Mrs. Eddy's life, excerpted from Longyear's documentary The House on Broad Street.
