Special Tours, June 1-6, 2018

Be sure and include Longyear in your plans if you’re traveling to Boston for the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist. The Museum will be offering special guided tours of three of the Mary Baker Eddy Historic Houses in Massachusetts: Lynn, Swampscott, and Chestnut Hill. You are also invited to check out the exhibit in the Longyear Portrait Gallery: “Love, loyalty, and good works – The Pleasant View Years.”

Reservations are encouraged. Limited transportation is available. Please see below for details.

Tour Schedule

Fri., June 1

2:00 pm – Tours at Lynn and Swampscott (2 hours total)
Longyear Museum open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Sat., June 2

10:00 am – Tours at Chestnut Hill (1 hour total)
Longyear Museum open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Sun., June 3

Longyear Museum open from 1:00 to 4:00 pm

Mon., June 4

9:30 – 11:00 am - Explore the Portrait Gallery exhibit with special activities and refreshments based on 19th century recipes
Longyear Museum is open from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm

Tues., June 5

10:00 am – Tours at Chestnut Hill (1 hour total)
2:00 – 4:00 pm - Explore the Portrait Gallery exhibit with special activities and refreshments based on 19th century recipes
Longyear Museum is open from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm

Wed., June 6

Longyear Museum open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

 

Reservations

Reserving your spot ahead of time is highly encouraged. There are a limited number of spots available for each tour. We will try to accommodate walk-ins but are unable to make any guarantees.

Reservations can be made one of three ways: by purchasing online, by calling us at 617.278.9000, ext. 110, or by emailing letters@longyear.org.

Transportation

For tours of the Lynn and Swampscott houses, two shuttle vans will be operating for a round-trip fee of $20 per person. You may reserve your spot and pay when you register for a tour. Indicate from which location you’d like to be picked up:

Shuttle 1

Pick up and drop off outside lobby of the Sheraton Boston Hotel (39 Dalton Street,
Boston, Mass.), which is located near The Mother Church. >> Google Maps

Shuttle 2

Pick up and drop off at Longyear Museum (1125 Boylston
Street, Chestnut Hill, Mass.), which is accessible by T. >> Google Maps

 

Both shuttles will leave at 1:00 pm and return to the drop off stop by 5:00 pm.

For tours of the Chestnut Hill house, two shuttle vans will be operating for a round-trip fee of $10 per person. You may reserve your spot and pay when you register for a tour. Indicate from which location you’d like to be picked up:

The van will leave at 9:15 am and return to the Sheraton Boston by 12:15 pm.

The van will leave at 9:45 am and return to Longyear Museum at 11:45 am.
