In an age of smartphones and social media, the idea of an afternoon tea may seem quaintly out-of-date. But at Longyear Museum, such genteel events are a refreshing retreat from the hustle-bustle of today’s world. Over the years, we have been happy to welcome visitors — many from the local community — to the Museum through the Tours & Tea program.

Typically, the afternoon includes a 40-minute guided tour of Longyear’s exhibits, which trace major events of Mary Baker Eddy’s life, from her girlhood in rural New Hampshire to her founding of the Church of Christ, Scientist. Following the tour, the group gathers in Longyear's Heimer Garden Room, where tempting pastries and pots of tea await. This room, with its floor-to-ceiling windows, looks out on the Museum's inner courtyard, where seasonal plants and flowers are on display.

Join us Monday, Thursday, and Friday year-round at 2:00 pm. Reservations are required with at least 48-hour advance notice. Tickets are $15 per person. For more information or to make a reservation, please call 617.278.9000, ext. 100.
