Thanksgiving is a season for counting blessings, and here at Longyear, we are particularly thankful for the many visitors who have been introduced to Mary Baker Eddy for the first time this year. This is especially true of the hundreds of individuals we’ve welcomed to Mrs. Eddy’s final home at 400 Beacon Street. As site manager Chris Rankin observed,
“Many of our visitors are being exposed to Mrs. Eddy’s life and work for the first time. And while everyone has their own reasons for coming to the house, they are all leaving with a similar impression: Mary Baker Eddy was a remarkable woman with so much love for God and humanity. Most have commented on feeling the love the guides have for their subject, and we’ve often heard, ‘I got so much more from this tour than I expected.’ There is a great respect for Mrs. Eddy and most leave wanting to share this experience with others. It continues to be a fact that nobody leaves this house the same as when they entered.”

Gratitude and appreciation for Mary Baker Eddy are at the heart of Longyear Museum and all of our activities, and your financial contribution to this year’s Annual Appeal is needed to carry on this work. As Longyear approaches the end of its fiscal year on December 31, we seek to secure $600,000 in contributions to meet our budget. To spur on this needed philanthropy, we are delighted that several generous Longyear members have committed to match gifts to the Annual Appeal dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000.
Thank you for your loving support of Longyear and for considering a gift today!
