Biography
LAURA C. CONANT and her family first heard of Christian Science after reading a Christian Science pamphlet mailed to them from Boston. It met her father’s need for healing, and after acquiring a copy of Science and Health, the family helped pioneer Christian Science in their community of Vineland, New Jersey. After graduating from Emerson College, Laura married Albert F. Conant in 1896. The Conants were both students of Joseph Armstrong. Years of teaching literature and oratory was put to great use in 1905, when Mrs. Eddy recommended that Mrs. Conant be appointed Second Reader of The Mother Church.
