“A Woman of Sound Education”  Virtual Book Talk

Thursday, September 23, 8 p.m. EDT

& Thursday, September 30, 2 p.m. EDT

All ages welcome

Come join Heather Vogel Frederick, Longyear’s director of research and publications, for a virtual book talk! Heather is the author of “A Woman of Sound Education”—Mary Baker Eddy’s School Years, the most recent publication of Longyear Museum Press.

Drawing on a wide range of sources, including Longyear’s unique collection of Baker family material, “A Woman of Sound Education” presents the most up-to-date historical research on Mrs. Eddy’s academic training. From her early years in a one-room schoolhouse in Bow, New Hampshire, through the secondary education she pursued when the family moved to Sanbornton, young Mary Baker eagerly took advantage of every avenue open to her for learning. She was supported and encouraged throughout by teachers, pastors, tutors, and family members. Later, as a lifelong champion of education, she contributed generously to schools, colleges, and libraries.

A live Q&A will follow the book talk.

Approximately 60 minutes.
