  • Longyear Welcomes Principia Junior Class This Week

    This week Longyear Museum will welcome more than 90 eleventh graders from the Principia Upper School (St. Louis, Missouri) for a five-day program about the life and work of Mary Baker Eddy. Longyear’s education staff has designed a curriculum especially for high school students that focuses on Mrs. Eddy’s role as the Discoverer, Founder, and Leader of Christian Science.

  • A Recent Lecture and Concert

    Longyear hosted two events in recent weeks at the Museum in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. On Sunday, April 12, PhD candidate Timothy C. Leech spoke about “The Religious Landscape of Mary Baker Eddy’s America.” Several weeks earlier on Friday, March 20, award-winning pianist Stephanie Trick returned to Longyear to play a concert.   • Gift Program Provides Books for Students' Collections

    Sharing Mary Baker Eddy’s writings and Christian Science literature was very important to Mary Beecher Longyear. Mrs. Longyear gave away countless copies of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy during her lifetime. She encouraged Longyear Trustees to do the same through a provision in her deed of trust for Longyear Foundation. The Museum is privileged to continue this activity today.

    This year’s Annual Meeting of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, will bring many visitors to Boston in early June. From June 5 to 10, Longyear Museum will be open for special hours and offering tours of the Mary Baker Eddy Historic Houses located in Swampscott, Lynn, and Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
