Donation from The Mother Church

In recent months, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston gave Longyear Museum a number of decorative and household items that once graced Mary Baker Eddy’s Chestnut Hill home, along with Asa Gilbert Eddy’s office furniture from Lynn. These cherished artifacts join the furniture and artwork from 400 Beacon Street previously given to Longyear, and we are deeply grateful for this generous gift. Gilbert Eddy’s furniture is already on display at the Mary Baker Eddy Historic House at 8 Broad Street in Lynn, and we look forward to returning the other items to 400 Beacon Street when restoration of Mrs. Eddy’s final residence is complete. Planning for Phase Two of this restoration is currently underway.
